Baltic Gull - Larus fuscus fuscus

A large and bulky 2cy fuscus. It has replaced all secondaries, all rectrices and all but its outer two primaries on the winter grounds. P1-8 are new second generation feathers, P9-10 are juvenile and very worn. Note the bill and leg color which have become dull yellowish and the new generation adult-type blackish grey feathers.

Some pictures with other 2cy Lesser Black-backed Gulls, to better illustrate the size, jizz and grey tone of the upperparts. The other 2cy in plate 15 is a graellsii ringed in the Netherlands, the one in plate 16 a large intermedius from Sweden.
