barabensis-type 2CY, February 27 2001, Manama harbour, Bahrain.

Barabensis class I 1st winter or maybe cachinnans. Class i, albeit relatively pale. The 2nd generation scapulars are pale, white with a simple shaft streak and with wear in the fringes. Between the very abraded juvenile wing coverts, a few 2nd generation central median and lesser coverts appear. These coverts are identical to the scapulars, though with a brown hue, but moulted already a few months ago. Actually, it seems there is no active moult going on. The high-based bill with an obvious gonydeal angle, the rounded head and the thumbprint in front of the eye may point to barabensis.
