barabensis-type 2CY, February 27 2001, Ashkar harbour, Bahrain.

Barabensis class I 1st winter. This is a representative of the typical class I barabensis, with diamond-shaped lower scapulars, all wing coverts, tail and tertials still juvenile and a pure white head with streaking in the lower neck. Note the fluffy hind-neck, indicating that the head feather moult has started.
In the lowest row of lower scapulars a few juvenile feathers are still present.
