Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) 2cy: March 20 2004, IJmuiden, the Netherlands (52.27 N, 4.33 E).

Dark bird. An individual still much juvenile, although some scapulars have been moulted recently to second generation. These feathers show an anchor pattern but note the warm buffish tones in the fringes and the grey-brown centres.
