Great Black-Backed Gull banded as pullus on Appledore Island July 11 2006. Sighted in Fort Point Channel in the heart of downtown Boston on January 28 2013. Banded as a chick on Appledore Island (in the Isles of Shoals off the coast of New Hampshire) seven years ago and hasn't been seen again since. Citizen science is pretty exciting. More info on the banding program.
