Heuglini 1cy, November 30 2009, northern Oman. Picture: Hans Larsson (his website).

Completely juvenile plumage by late November, no obvious moult gaps in scapulars. Juvenile feathers in perfect condition, no wear. Compare with 1cy bird from the Steppe region in the background (barabensis on location), which has finished scapular replacement and included many wing-coverts in the post-juvenile moult. Especially note wear in the fringes of the juvenile greater coverts and tertials.
