heuglini 2cy, May 18 2007, Hämeelinna Karanoja dump, SW Finland. Image: Hannu Koskinen.

2cy heuglini with replaced tertials (tt1-tt6), and all wing-coverts 2nd gen. Median primary coverts replaced as well. Primaries juvenile. Six secondaries replaced in the right wing: S3, S6, S7, S10, S17, S18. Tail replaced, now completely 2nd gen. Moult in all feather tracts quite recent, with most feathers still fresh (except of course scapular region); indicating this post-juvenile moult must have taken place in late winter (end February - March). Iris already paler.

Classic 2cy heuglini bird in spring with simple pattern on wing-coverts and scapulars (shaft streak pattern), last replaced gc almost plain brown-grey, white head and streaking concentrated in hind-neck.
