heuglini 2cy, May 29 2007, Tampere, Tarastenjarvi (Tara) dump, SW Finland. Image: Hannu Koskinen.

Advanced 2cy heuglini: replaced tertials and all secondaries, replaced all wing-coverts and complete tail, and replaced P10, now showing a mirror. Last juvenile feathers are P1-P9 and the greater primary coverts. Dark iris and obvious bi-coloured bill which turns a bit yellowish at the base.

It is very likely (on location) that fresh grey wing-coverts and central tertials are in fact already 3rd gen.
