Ringed on January 09 2010, Westkapelle, The Netherlands, trapped in winter as 3cy, which is obviously not the correct age.

Fourth-calendar year European Herring Gull moulting to fourth-winter (third-basic, third cycle) plumage.

Ringed on January 09 2010, Westkapelle, The Netherlands, and aged as 3cy, which is obviously not the correct age. 3CY birds in January have 2nd generation primaries, which partly are still present by August (the outer primaries still to be replaced). Best labeled 'adult'.
