Herring Gull 4cy H-112039 (argenteus), August 15 2003, Westkapelle, the Netherlands (51.33N - 03.25E). A bird with a Belgian ring: Bruxelles H-112039, ringed as pullus on July 14 2000 at Zeebrugge, Belgium (51.20N 03.11E). Primaries P7-P10 are still old third generation, with a hint of a mirror on P10. Most of the median and lower lesser coverts, the inner greater coverts, some lesser coverts and the upper tertials have been replaced in the complete moult. The outer greater coverts are old third generation feathers, bleached and worn, only the shaft is left. The tail-feathers are still old third generation, second-generation in pattern.
