Herring Gull (argentatus & argenteus)

(last update: February 11, 2013)

Herring Gull (argentatus) 5CY, February 18 2014, Katwijk, the Netherlands.

In general this age much resembles full adult plumage. Last vestiges of immaturity often found in dark centred greater primary coverts, sometimes some black in the tail, or extensive black on the bill resulting in a full broad bill-band.
