Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus vetula) adult, October 30 2013, Keurbooms colony, South Africa. Picture: Minke Witteveen.

Please visit Minke's weblog to follow all the news regarding her MSc ringing project on Kelp Gulls in this colony, at Keurbooms River and Robberg Peninsular, Plettenberg Bay.

Note orange orbital ring, no red on upper mandible and densely speckled iris. Ink on the head, probably just finished his octopus meal. Heavy bill indicates male.
