Lesser Black-backed Gull graellsii JH5 , April 2002 - April 2004, Dintelhaven, Maasvlakte, the Netherlands (51.59N,04.02E).

An adult ringed, left green JH5. Its probably a female with a rounded head and a rather friendly facial expression. Note also the small mirror on p10. The central median coverts still look very fresh but the inner medians and some of the greater coverts have the fringes worn. Note the state of the primary tips: the white tips are almost completely worn away. This bird was ringed as a pullus on the nest, June 28 1993, close to the current breeding spot.

(April 29 2002) The primary tips are slightly abraded and the white tips are almost worn away (the white parts wear away easily, compared to the black pigmented area). Note the greater covert bar in the partner, with the central feathers irregularly moulted.
