American Herring Gull (smithsonianus) 1st cycle (2CY)YK February 16 2012, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Picture: Brandon Holden.

Note limited number of replaced scapulars (only upper scapulars 2nd gen).

Orange YK, and band number 1166-00967. Banded on September 30 2011 as a hatch year bird at Petty Harbour. So presumably a post-fledge juvenile, probably from a relatively local colony. Dave Fifield captured that bird, along with a bunch of others - it was a good day for catching apparently. This is the first Ontario record we've had with the orange bands. Tons from New England, but nothing from Ontario until now.

Distance: 2200 KM.
