Birds in winter (non breeding) plumage.

The spring movement of Thayer's Gulls into the Parksville-Qualicum area has begun. Today there were over 700 Thayer's Gulls at the mouth of Nile Creek, near Qualicum Bay, BC. Each spring a significant percentage of the world population of this species masses in this area to fatten up on Pacific Herring and their roe during the annual spawn.
