Thayer's Gull may show pale iris as well (pale eyed birds - score 2.5 and 3.0 - account for about 20% of the sample). Here: Iris scoring is 3.0, apparently unmarked pale yellowish (like an adult Herring Gull) which is found in 5% of Thayer's Gull (see HERE).
