Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 1CY, September 30 2001, Dannes - Le Portel, NW France.

Most Yellow-legged Gulls show wing-covert moult by September. Here is an example of an individual with all wing-coverts and tertials still juvenile, very abraded, with the fringes worn away in the tertials and most of the coverts. Note the moult in  the under-parts with still juvenile feathers in the flanks but second generation feathyers on the head and the breast.
In the background: Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
