photo 7398: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy, October 22 2001, Westkapelle, the Netherlands.

This individual shows the average moult timing in 2cy michahellis by the end of October, but lacks the partial moult average moult sequence in the median coverts. Again, most recently replaced feathers show a greyish-brown base and fringe combined with ill-defined dark brown patterns. Last replaced feathers in the partial moult include the second innermost greater covert and randomly some lesser coverts. In the median covert row, #1-3 are old, #4 is new, #5 is old, #6 is new, #7 is old, #8 and the outer median coverts are new. Most of the scapulars appear grey with a prominent dark shaft streak, but quite some scapulars still show the typical second generation pattern. In many cases, and here as well, the upper two tertials were moulted last and lack the typical second generation dark brown-black centre; the pattern is narrow barred.
