barabensis-type 2CY, February 25 2001, Chicken farm, Bahrain.

Barabensis class I 1st winter or maybe heuglini. All scapulars recently moulted to anchor patterned and grey-based feathers. Such complete replacement in February is not common in cachinnans (at least in 2cy ponticus which replaces scapulars early in the winter: October-November). All wing coverts, tail feathers and tertials (except #1) still juvenile, though not as abraded as in some other class I barabensis. This may still be a 2cy heuglini, though the stronger heuglini type of birds seems to show more advanced moult, with at least moult in some of the wing coverts.
