Larus fuscus fuscus 2cy, August 07 2002, Tampere, Finland (61.33N 24.59E).
A strong and powerful bird with a relatively low number of fresh blackish scapulars and wing-coverts. Two lower scapulars are black third generation and about 50% of the upper scapulars have been replaced. There are no fresh black feathers in the wing-coverts, although the upper tertial has been dropped. All primaries have been moulted once last spring on the wintering grounds, prior to migration and at least P3 to P10 are still present (but no confirmation about P1 and P2, so unknown of the second moult wave started again). Note the rather pale iris.
