(2 images) Larus fuscus fuscus 2cy, August 09 2002, Tampere, Finland (61.33N 24.59E).
A bird with a relatively low number of fresh blackish scapulars. Moult in the scapulars is in progress with one lower and one upper scapular missing. Fresh black feathers are lacking in the wing-coverts as well, although four lower lesser coverts and three median coverts are in a slightly better condition and less bleached compared to the second generation central greater coverts and lesser coverts. The central greater coverts still show some faint barring pattern.
All primaries have been replaced once last spring on the wintering grounds, prior to migration and the tail is complete second generation and worn at the tips. All secondaries are second generation as well. Note the rather pale iris.
