Larus fuscus fuscus, August 04 2002, Stockholm, Sweden.
An adult fuscus with a broken leg. In
such birds, weakness can easily be referred to as the cause of an uncommon moult
pattern. Here, the median and lower lesser covert bars show obvious paler
feathers, moulted much earlier than the adjacent feathers. Note that median
coverts #2-3 have been moved by the wind and are still present.
The tail is completely white and no tail-feathers have been shed. P1-10 are
present.
