Plumage and moult-wise, this Heuglin's Gull is comparable to the previous bird, but because of its white head and underparts, it immediately would attract more attention in W Europe. The tail bar is very broad; except for the outer margins of R3-6, the rectrices are completely black. The underwing coverts are uniformly dark brown.
