Gulls in NW Europe

Herring Gull (argenteus) Y.AFC 1CY, 4CY & 10CY, August 2008, May 2011 & May 2017, IJmuiden & Heemskerk, the Netherlands.

Ringed Herring Gull Y.AFC from Forteiland, IJmuiden. Ringed by Fred & Kees as juvenile on June 30 2008.

The IJmuiden Ringing Team (Fred & Kees) have ringed again several Herring Gulls and Lesser Black-backed Gulls at Forteiland, IJmuiden in 2008. This time green darvic rings have been attached, starting with Y for borh species (so codes read Y.xxx).
Early in the season, adults were caught at the nests and ringed, late June 2008 several juveniles were caught and ringed as well.

Black in tail, brown on coverts in combination with large mirror on P10; typical combination for Dutch 4cy plumage.

Between these two dates, YAFC has been recorded over the last years dozens of times along the North Sea coast between Alkmaar - Den Helder.
