Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus dominicanus) 3rd cycle (?), August 09 2010, Los Lagos Region, Chile. Picture: Niccolo Cantarutti.

See: Niccolo's Flickr pages!

Obvious sub-adult bird, with pink bill and broad band on bill. Still some brown feathers intermixed in wing-covert panel. Pale iris. P9 fully grown, P10 almost fully grown. Adult-like secondaries with bold white tips.

Two options:
- Last stage of complete moult, moulting into 3rd basic plumage.
- Extensive alternate moult (would probably better suit location and timing).
