Photo 2: LBBG 2cy, June 30 2001, IJmuiden, the Netherlands.

A first type 2cy LBBG which completed the median covert moult. It shows much markings on head and under parts. Scapulars were moulted last year and are very abraded now, showing much wear on the fringes. The upper lesser coverts and most of the greater coverts are still juvenile. The lower lesser coverts have been shed. The inner greater coverts were already moulted last year and the medians coverts were all replaced to barred patterned feathers. The central median coverts have been moulted inwards, as can be seen in the innermost median coverts which still show fresh buffish tips. The uppermost tertial is missing, the next two tertials are second generation, while the lowest three are still juvenile.

P4 is growing; the primary moult score is 19.
