Photo 5: LBBG 2cy, June 26 2001, Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands.

A second type 2cy LBBG with very white head and under-parts. New feathers are plain grey, very dark, indicating this is probably a first summer intermedius. In general, this 2cy LBBG is not unlike some heuglini types seen at Maasvlakte.
The new outer medians are dark grey, with only the shaft pronounced. There is a 2nd generation inner median as well, with barred pattern. The rest of the wing-coverts are very abraded.
The scapulas are old, worn second generation and there are a few new dark grey feathers, either recently moulted third generation or replacements for the last juvenile feathers (then 2nd generation feathers).
The head and under-parts are remarkable white. In the tertials, #1 is growing, #2 & #3 are missing, # 4 to #6 are still juvenile. The tail is still juvenile, except the outer rectrices (R6), which are second generation.

In the primaries, P3 is growing, P4 is missing and P5 is juvenile: the primary moult score is 15.
