Photo 11: First winter (1cy) LBBG, November 26 2000, Westkapelle, the Netherlands.

This bird replaced the scapulars for second generation feathers with a gingery tone. Coverts and tertials are very neatly patterned. Note the different pattern of the juvenile inner 4th-6th greater coverts in comparison with outer and inner ones. The pale fringes of juvenile feathers are slightly worn, most pronounced on the tertials (note e.g. the protruding shaft).
