Photo 6: LBBG sub-adult, November 26 2000, Westkapelle, the Netherlands.
The combination of bold white tips of the
primaries rule out 2cy LBBG and the black markings on the bill, the absence of a
white tip on p9 and p10 make it unlikely this being a 5cy or older LBBG. The
large primary tips, the grey outer primary covert and the grey-centred
secondaries with large white tips all advocate 4cy. Nevertheless, an obvious
mirror on p10 is lacking and the extensive black bill-band do not fully exclude
3cy LBBG.
This slender built, short-legged individual with a rather friendly facial
expression may originate from northern intermedius LBBG-population.
