Photo 1: First winter (1cy) LBBG, October 23 2000 Brouwersdam, the Netherlands.

The tips of the feathers start to wear off already, most noticeable at the tertails.

In particular the innermost and outer greater coverts are dark, forming a greater covert bar in flight. This individual just moulted two mantle feathers in the lower neck to second generation (first winter feathers). Also, one greater and one lesser covert are missing and the eighth median covert is probably second generation. Note black front of the tarsus.
