LBBG intermedius NOO NA11199, September 19 2003, IJmuiden, the Netherlands (51°33'0''N, 3°25'0''E)
Adult LBBG intermedius with P6-P10 still
old, P3 fully-grown. Moult in the rectrices hasn't started yet. This bird was ringed in
Norway, with an old Oslo ring: NA 11199. This is a dark intermedius bird, with a warm brown
hue on the old wing-coverts. The P10 mirror is merged with the tip and P9 has a
small mirror as well.
Together with the primary moult, moult in the wing-coverts
has started as well and the differences between the old brown and new grey feathers are
obvious between the median and the greater coverts. The scapulars are a mix of old brown and new dark grey
feathers as well. On the bill, the red gonydeal spot extends on the upper mandible and there is
no black on the bill.
