Photo 17: LBBG 2cy, May 29 2000 Maasvlakte, the Netherlands.
Completely moulted upper-parts and coverts, all second generation now. Pattern typical for third type LBBG with blackish shafts and paler fringes. Brown colouration in both plates (but in particular above) exaggerated by low 'afternoon sun'. A rear new lower scapular covert possibly in a later stage moulted to second generation, or may otherwise be third generation. Note again that the majority of coverts and upper-parts are probably renewed in one wave and look abraded already. From notes on field observations: few central rectrices are second generation, while this bird had not commenced the moult of the remiges.
