A more advanced bird, regarding the upper-parts. Bare parts are not really second summer-like (typical second summer have yellow bill, red gonydeal spot and a black bill-band running back to the base of the bill along the culmen). These bare parts resemble 2cy birds.

The body shows advanced moult and the new 3rd generation grey coverts and fourth generation scapulars are hard to tell from adult feathers. In these birds, best clues for ageing are the primaries (P10 in most cases without a mirror and no white tips on the outer primaries) and the secondaries (second generation: with brown centres).

The tail has many brown markings.

Although the bare parts do not show advanced coloration, note the very obvious red orbital ring in this second summer.
