Vega Gull (vegae), 1st cycle (1CY), December 02 2000, Choshi Chiba, Japan. Picture: Michiaki Ujihara.Scapulars replaced for 2nd gen feathers, all with rather bold transversal bands in the anchor pattern, much like Herring Gull argentatus. Bird not really blotchy in the neck and on the breast (many neck feathers replaced), and also several feathers on flank replaced. Note dark tail and no notching in tertial fringes. Except for the tertial pattern, this is a difficult bird in a European context. |
