Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 1CY, September 30 2001, Dannes - Le Portel, France.

1CY michahellis together with an adult Greater Black-backed Gull, moulting the primaries, greater coverts and lesser coverts. Almost all the scapulars have been replaced in this Yellow-legged Gull. About 8 visible median coverts have been moulted to second generation, three lower lesser coverts and two greater coverts are new and some lesser coverts have been replaced in a random sequence. The lower tertials still have pretty neat white fringes without any obvious wear. Again, most of the head and breast has been moulted for second generation feathers.
