Yellow-legged Gull michahellis adult, September 30 2001, Dannes, France (50.44N,01.35E).

Very fine streaking on the crown in the recently moulted head feathers. Primary P8 is fully grown. Compare the grey tone with the Lesser Black-backed Gulls in the background. The moult gap in the greater coverts is closed and the partial autumn moult has started in this individual: the outer median coverts are replaced again. The new medians are typically plain grey, lacking the bleached tone of the older adjacent feathers.
