Plumage-wise, this individual is very similar to a 2cy fuscus. Note, however, that the primaries are rounded, but dark brown and worn. As 2cy fuscus acquire their second generation primaries in late winter, they nearly always show fresh, jet black primaries. As the primaries of the bird above are worn, they must have been moulted (much) earlier in the season. This bird therefore can be identified as a 3cy (graellsii/)intermedius.
