Cachinnans - nest Lelystad 004

General remarks:

  • Eggs: Volume measured by Stonehouse (1964) and Spaans & Spaans (1975), which make comparison possible with data from Texel (Camphuysen pers comm 16.04.2020).
  • Nest 004 positioned on artificial breakwater 1 at "Blocks". Location is "Nest Roosje 2", only visible on North side, 12 meters east of where blocks end (nest 168), at bend of the dam.
  • Uncertainty on ID in 2024, one is Caspian Gull cachinnans. Other is either Herring or Caspian. Slightly latre nest (April 25 2024).
nest: April 30 2024: 2 eggs. One is damaged. . .

OBSERVATIONS:
23-4-2024 adults: 4 adult Caspians and some resting Herrings.
26-4-2024 nest: adult Caspian Gull is incubating.
30-4-2024 eggs: 2 eggs, measured. Damaged egg kept in nest (adults have to decide what to do).
adults: what seems to be left: Herring Gull guarding, Caspian Gull incubating. Is the male a Herring here???
14-05-2024 adults: Herring Gull guarding, Caspian Gull incubating.
