Mew Gull canus 1cy, November 06 2011, Buitenhoflaan - Leiderdorp, The Netherlands. Picture: Maarten van Kleinwee.

First-calendar year Mew Gull in first-winter plumage (first cycle, pre-alternate moult). Most of the mantle feathers and scapulars have been replaced by second-generation, adult-looking gray feathers. All wing feathers (coverts, tertials, secondaries and primaries) are first-generation, brown feathers.

Note faint mirror on P10 underside.
