Compared to CK64, C84A is more fuscus-like in build and general looks. Moult-wise it is comparable though and indistinguisable from the more advanced intermedius. Again, without a ring it would probably go unnoticed in W Europe.

Interestingly, as a 3cy it looks also rather retarded. Potentially it could be mixed up with a very advanced 2cy fuscus as at rest it shows only shows second generation primaries in the left wing, plus a rather complete tail bar. The flight shots reveal P3-5 have been replaced with third generation feathers in the left wing and P2-6 in the right; the other primaries still are second generation. The brightly coloured bill and legs and the clean white head and underparts provide further clues to its age.

Compare to C10H, a very advanced fuscus.
