Larus armenicus 3cy, 15 December 2010, Maagan Michael, Israel. Picture: Amir Ben Dov.
Tiny mirror on P10, no black on inner primaries (adult-like P1-P2), and much black on the bill are indications for 3cy.
This age-class may still show some black centres in the secondaries, and in almost all 3cy December birds, the greater primary coverts have extensive brownish centres. There may also be some pattern in the feathers of the carpal edge.
