		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 17 2001, Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. Primary P5 is fully grown while P8-P10 still have to be shed.

		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 22 2002, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E). Primary P5 is fully grown. Outer primaries P8-P10 still have to be shed. Almost the complete greater covert bar has been shed, exposing the secondaries underneath. The median and lower lesser coverts are growing and the upper row of lesser coverts are clearly old and brown.
		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 22 2002, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E). Primary P6 is fully grown. Outer primaries P9-P10 still have to be shed. Almost all the greater coverts have been shed, exposing the secondaries underneath. The median and lower lesser coverts are growing and the upper row of lesser coverts are clearly old and brown.

		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 30 2001, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E). Primary P5 still isn't fully grown. Outer primaries P8-P10 still have to be shed. The complete greater covert bar has been shed, exposing the secondaries underneath.
		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 30 2001, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E). Primary P5 is fully grown. Outer primaries P9-P10 still have to be shed. The innermost greater coverts have been replaced and the outer greater coverts are growing in a descendant order (towards the body).
		*Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) adult:* September 30 2001, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E). Primary P6 is almost fully grown. Outer primary P10 (with the white tip merged with the mirror) still has to be shed. Note the pale iris and the missing outer greater coverts. The friendly facial expression and the relatively light built bill suggest a female.
