Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

LBBG 1cy NLA 5.364.435August 28 2003 IJmuiden, the Netherlands.

An average 1cy individual, ringed in the Netherlands. The lower scapulars are still first generation (juvenile), but already, three upper scapulars have been shed and replaced for new 2nd generation feathers. In the mantle feathers have been replaced as well: 1-25% is second generation. Mc3, mc5 and gc5 look relatively new compared to adjacent feathers.
