Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

Lesser Black-backed Gull 2cy, June 08 2013, Noordwijk, the Netherlands.

Complete moult started, P1 growing, P2-P3 missing/growing, P4-P10 old juvenile. Secondaries and tail juvenile. Many coverts replaced at winter grounds (see left wing): upper 4 tertials, inner 3 GC, visible inner 8 MC, about 8 LLC and about 50% of LC.
But also some moult gaps in covert rows (e.g. outer MC, single central LLC), which most certainly correspond with old juvenile feathers now dropped simultaneously with complete moult in primaries. Last juvenile wing-coverts to be found in outer GC and LC region.
