Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

LBBG 3cy, May 12 2001, Missouriweg - Maasvlakte, the Netherlands. 

Bare parts typical for spring 3cy LBBG. Head and under parts still have to be moulted to summer plumage; many brown feathers are visible. These brown feathers may be retained old winter feathers or new feathers with markings. In the upper-parts, moult progresses slowly, only half of the scapulars are grey feathers. The tail shows many brown markings.
