It was seen on July 25 2003 in Amsterdam: P1 fully grown, P2 at the same length as P1 and P3 missing. P4-P10 still old second generation, with only very limited black on the outer-web of P4. All rectrices are white, old and worn. Bill yellow with the red gonydeal spot confined to the lower mandible; black on the upper mandible. The iris is white yellow, without speckling and the orbital ring is red. August 21 2003, J4A3 was seen again at IJmuiden beach: the black on the bill was slightly more extensive and primary moult progressed only slowly. P5-P10 are still old, P3 is still not fully grown.
