Lesser Black-backed Gull (graellsii & intermedius)

LBBG 3cySeptember 16 2002, Scheveningen, the Netherlands.

A 3cy LBBG, which shows the following characteristics:

1. black markings in the rectrices,
2. tertials without a complete white tip, but white tip confined to the inner web (it remains unclear whether this only applies to immaturity),
3. advanced moult stage for mid-September with all old primaries shed and p7 fully grown,
4. immature soft parts, with the bill markedly patterned and the legs pinkish-yellow.
