Illustrative bird for explaining the "late winter post-juvenile moult" in western Lesser Black-backed Gull (not nominate fuscus). There is no primary moult, but moult may include all other feather tracts in advanced birds. To indicate the onset of this moult, it is important to witness the very start of the process, which this bird does.

Few inner coverts just replaced and some inner MC missing. Note juvenile central GC which will be replaced by June (must have been dropped and replaced in April-May).
