Lesser Black-backed Gull intermedius NOS 4100410 18CY-19CY, October 2003 & September 2004, Westkapelle, the Netherlands.

Adult intermedius, metal ringed NOS 4100410, from Scandinavia. Ringed on 12 July 1986 as pullus at STORE VENGELSHOLMEN, MANDAL, V-AGDER, NORWAY (57.58N 07.32E).

P5 is fully grown, P8-P10 are still old. P10 with a small mirror. Moult in the rectrices hasn't started yet, all feathers are still old. All secondaries are still old too. The bill is pale-yellow, with the red gonydeal spot confined to the lower mandible. There is some black on both upper and lower mandible. The iris is white-yellow, without speckling. The orbital ring is red.
Note the black centre on the lowest tertial (tt6) and P9 lacking a white mirror.

Returning adult, now in 19cy. P6 over P5 and P8-P10 still old, so moult stage more or less similar to last year's.
