Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) 2cy: October 01 2001, Le Portel - Boulogne sur Mer, France (50.42 N - 01.34 E).
Primary p10 still has to grow a few inches, p9 is fully grown. Greater coverts characteristic pattern. The most recently replaced scapulars are predominantly black and are probably already third generation feathers. Note the recently replaced outer median coverts with buffish bases.
